There must be some splendid displays in the UK for the coronation and there's a lot of bunting, but there are also little local efforts. Post boxes etc are being decorated very cleverly - here are two examples.

Those are Great Lyn. I love that people really care about the coronation so much. Our provincial prepare was throwing a family fair to celebrate today. I am sure there are other things too. I went to a fibre festival and bought wool do you suppose that counts since the king is such a big wool supporter?

I went to a fibre festival and bought wool do you suppose that counts since the king is such a big wool supporter? I'm sure he'd be delighted Ann. I've been glued to the box most of the day watching the Coronation. It went off really well, although it was very wet and unfortunately the clouds were so low that most of the military flypast over the palace had to be called off. I reckon that the King and Queen will be pretty exhausted by now, not to mention all those thousands of troops involved in the procession - they apparently had to get up at 3.30 this morning and I think spent most of the rest of the day on their feet - those that weren't on horseback of course.

I enjoyed every moment of the televised coronation celebration - it was a shame that it rained though

Apparently the rain was traditional - it's rained at the last 3 I think is what we were told. At least it looks as if tomorrow will be a lot drier for the street parties and the Concert (fingers crossed)

But it does make life difficult when you want to plan an outside event - even something as simple as a family bbq - I've 'enjoyed' a meal or two shivering under a makeshift shelter

Oh yes, me too. It's such a shame for the people who have put in all the hard work planning and arranging events that are rained off. Most of them are volunteers too, but as you say, we should be used to it.

I am planning a blog post on pillar box toppers and other community projects, so I have been taking some photos in my area, but I have not seen anything as good as your topper for the coronation: I guess everybody was a bit jaded after the last period of different royal events, or they have just become a bit lazy!

There were a few post box decorations around here caterina, but I forgot the photos!! We always have some post box decor around Christmas, Easter, and other days of note, I generally do get some pics then.

Yes, we have different post box toppers for the seasons / events of the year. Very creative they are too.

Thanks for the link Ann, nice to see all those craft makers honoring veterans and those lost in past wars.
