It's funny, I was just saying the other day, my living room is so full of boxes it smells like a warehouse I actually buy cardboard boxes from Ikea, they have ones with lids really cheap and they're great for felting stuff

Wouldn't it be great if cardboard smelt like delicately scented garden flowers?
Some cardboard boxes have a peculiar, not-very-nice-niff about them don't they?

My husband says that I have the "throw away" mentality. He has to hide things in his office to keep them safe. I am not allowed to toss anything in his office sanctuary. Ha ha. I think this is funny. But as we both are up in years, we forget where we hide things to keep them safe.

... I gave away a never used solar pool cover, before I knew what they are really used for...

My husband is a hoarder, whereas I'm just a fibre/fabric collector which I'm sure you'll all agree is very different!

That's so right, Ann I'm doing what Kaz is doing and most of it isn't mine. I admit the 5 or 6 jars of shells and beach glass I got rid of might have been mine...wonder what the archeologists will make of that in a few thousand years when they discover a pile of beach shells 35 miles inland? I'm recycling everything I can, charity shopping the rest, but I still feel bad about throwing things away. Lyn, I've put old insense stick boxes or soap wrappers in some of my boxes to hide the smell, can't do much about the stacked ones though.

Storage is big business around here.it is one of the fastest growing industries. Mini storage, although much of it isn't very mini. Winter storage too. the houses are so close together you can't leave your camper or boat at home. the other thing is people on there second marriage and they are combining 2 households and no one wants to get rid of there stuff. Then there's the seniors that the down size but keep things for the kids.

You can always felt the rocks! They make nice doorstops if they're big enough. I love the snails, they are really cute.

Zed - good idea of yours to reduce the pong! I'll try that.
Judith - you are so right. I collect useful stuff but my husband just collects junk (however, he says it the other way round).
Ruth - I once felted 21 rocks, that each weighed between 5-7lbs, for a gallery to sell. They do make good doorstops, but they look great as ornaments in the right place. I did 3 a day for a week and my hands hurt for a while after.
Teriann - those snails are wonderful! Proper little characters.

I good way to free up the space is flatted all your small boxes and store them in a large one, I find its fairly easy to put a dab of hot glue on the joins and get them box shape once again when you need to send stuff off.
