Regarding ads: they certainly would not make the forum more attractive for me. Getting through aggressive ads on some sitesis sometimes quite pushing me off, especially when I browse the internet on the phone, not on the computer.

Interesting point above about the kind of device that the forum is viewed on. I cannot get on with using my phone for the internet - I don't seem to be able to view much at all so I don't bother any more. I always use my laptop and I have no problem.
With regard to ads on this forum - am I correct in thinking that it's just the bar at the top? If so then it's not intrusive to viewing the forum. Some websites have ads that obliterate the screen as you're trying to read and I have no patience with them.

The ads are at the bottom and the top. They are not the kind that pops up in the middle of your screen. But we'll just continue as we are and try to keep it ad free with the wonderful support of our members P.S. To view the forum on your screen, there should be a place with settings that allows you to view as a desktop site. That shows everything on your phone. It makes it small but then you can just expand it on your phone screen to see better. Or there is an app called TapaTalk for this type of forum. I didn't like it at all though.

Not sure why the ads are currently showing as we have paid to keep them away. Sigh. Has nothing to do with this recent discussion here.

Looks like we must have hit 50,000 page views this month. The ads will be gone tomorrow.

Hi, I would hate to see this site close down, I love seeing all your creations. I have posted a few times but not much I admit, I think that is because I think my work is not good enough to show off. I would much prefer this format over a facebook group any day. I would not mind paying a small fee to keep it add free but I would get used to them if it meant the forum would stay open. There really is such a wealth of information on this site.

Henry Van Dyke said "...the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." Forum members show very different kinds of fibre pieces, but not in a competitive way - the forum is just a friendly place where we can discuss, show and ask questions. All work shown by members is valued. I agree with you that this forum is worth keeping.

Glad you enjoy the forum. Please show us your work, everyone starts somewhere, we were all beginners once and everyone's work is different. No comparisons made here.

Sorry I don't contribute much, but it seems by the time I see posts the questions have been answered and the subjects have moved on! I do think there are a lot of talented people with more to contribute than me - and having been devoid of motivation(not ideas, just motivation to activate!) I really haven't been doing much creatively at all. I usually take a look when I get an email pointing out new topics (like this morning). I usually then delve into all the corners! I haven't really understood the Ipernity system for pictures, which has put me off a bit, but otherwise the site is a mine of information and enjoyment. I don't mind ads. I just tune out! I am on Facebook (not Instagram) and would be happy if you thought it better to have a FB group - but you do get ads down the side of FB posts, you know...

Thanks for your input. You should feel free to comment on a post whenever, we appreciate every reply. You can share photos from Facebook, you don't have to use ipernity. The photo just needs to be someplace else online to share it here.

I really enjoy the forum here and as several other people have mentioned I also do have problems finding things -but when I do find them they are wonderful. For example, I have two bookmarks one for the studio forum and another for the classes on this site but even though I have taken two classes on felt and fiber studio - I still don't know how to get from the class section to the forum sections. On the plus side I have had pretty good luck finding information on the forum when I have gone looking and have gotten lots of wonderful information. The classes are wonderful and I have enjoyed them so much and hope to take more classes.

Marie, the class site and this one are two totally separate sites. It's easier administration to not have them lumped together. So the easiest way is to bookmark the site so it's easy to get back.

Whatever you decide, I don't think you will lose any followers! We all like the site too much for that! If you allow advertising, we will all get used to it. I'm afraid that for me this is not the year to ask for a subscription - right now I am dropping subscriptions rather than renewing. The shops where I usually sell my work have been closed as often as open. All my events got cancelled one after the other and I haven't been able to teach at all - the final one for the year (rebooked from a March date) was supposed to be next weekend but the girls thought it better to wait it out....until NEXT March. So that's it. Just about Zero income from craft this year!
