When reheating soup or leftovers in the microwave the bowl can get very hot. I had seen various patterns for making holders and Cambells Soups even sold one. But since I like to felt and often have small amounts of roving left over from projects it seemed easy enough to use what I had on hand to make a cover. (waste not/want not) The container choice is important – a bowl with deep sides is better than a shallow one. After selecting the bowl a resist was made. The roving was chosen. The felting was completed using the displayed tools. The cover was removed from the resist and shaped on the bowl and left to dry. Note the covers on the deep bowls function better. The wool also acts as an insulator to keep the food warm. The deep bowls are available in the USA at Dollar Tree for $1.00. I make soup, freeze it in a plastic bag and then give the cover, bowl and soup as a gift. For those who sell their work these could possibly be an item for the market.

What a great idea to have a bowl cosy, that will save many fingers! And what a lovely gift idea too. Thank you for sharing your process photos....I do have a question - what glue have you used to stick down the glass nuggets onto the plastic chopping board?

I used E-6000 - be sure and let it cure overnight.
