Looking to see where you get your wool that's easy on the wallet.. I've only done two projects so I'm not sure I need really expensive stuff at the moment...
Thanks

For small needle felted projects you need lots of different colours in small amounts of wool. Etsy is one place to buy packets of assorted colours in small amounts. Here is one example of wool for sale in an Etsy shop (click on link) but there are lots more shops and you can choose from a supplier that is in your country to make postage easier. link

I use world of wool in the UK. Cheapest even with shipping and they do colour packs. There is Living Felt in Texas. feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Felting-Wool-Fiber_c_1.html There must be others too. See if there is a weavers and spinners group in your area and find out if they have felters too. we often hang out together. they may know of good sources nearby

For needle felting, an ounce is quite a lot. This photo shows some batts that I carded and I would say they are between one and two ounces. I know you are just starting out but I find it better to buy processed wool in white and then dye my own colors. It is much less expensive that way. RHLindsay is in the US and sells wool in large quantities if you get to the point that you want to buy more wool and dye your own.

I've dyed fabric to get the colours I want, but I've never dyed wool because WoW and Wingham etc have so many lovely colours for me to buy that I skip straight to the felting!

I’m with Lyn on this one. People often ask me whether I start with fleeces. The answer is no, that’s a whole different ball game. I can’t make half of what’s in my head. I admire the shepherdesses, shearers, carders, dyers and all the rest and thank them for their fantastic work but I’m going straight for the beautiful fibres that are all ready and waiting for me.

I agree with Lindsay, carding your own wool really is a whole other world....sorting the fleece, washing it, picking it over, then carding. All that said whilst it is 'super extremely' time consuming it is also therapeutic, forcing one to take time out! Just wanting to felt....go for the wonderful, endless ranges of ready prepared fibres.

I do it all. I buy it dyed, by roving or top and dye it myself and buy fleeces and wash card and dye. Just starting one of the multi packs of wool is great. Then you can figure out what you use a lot and what you don't. Use cheap white wool for your middles and save the nice dyed wool for the outside.

i raise and breed rabbits... Was thinking of getting more, but getting the long hair, or an angora breed.. to collect wool on top of breeding them.. what do you think about this?

Angora is very soft and fine, not easy to needle felt.

Raise them to sell the fiber. Then use the money to buy wool.
