I wanted to squeeze in another picture before my exhibition which starts tomorrow so I made a more abstract one focusing on winter sunshine on the surface of the sea.

Great job Lindsay, you have really captured the look of water. I look forward to seeing some photos of your exhibition.

Great job Lindsay, you have really captured the look of water. I look forward to seeing some photos of your exhibition. Thank you, Ruth. I tried a similar picture previously and don’t really like it, though it does attract positive comments. It really didn’t work out as I wanted. So rather than just looking at it resentfully I thought I’d try again and I’m much happier with this!

Beautiful Lindsay, you really captured the sea in all its glory. Good luck at the exhibition. Thank you, Marilyn. I think / hope it’s typical of the sea round here - sort of murky.

You've captured the movement and the colours! Thank you Lyn. And it was also the first to sell, along with its predecessor (the one I didn’t like) just before I opened the exhibition! That was a very nice start to the day if a bit stressful as I wasn’t really ready, my card machine was a bit reluctant.....you can imagine.

Yes, a fabulous start. I had someone else say she wished she’d seen it first as she’d have bought it. Who knows but it’s a nice thought.

It’s a week-long exhibition and going really well so far. I’ve sold 3 large felt pictures & 3 photo canvases plus cards so better than I could have hoped. The felt pictures have all been non-bird ones, which is interesting. I don’t know if it’s coincidence, the fact that they are cheaper (because less work), or that people in general prefer them. Anyway, I know what I’m going to be doing when I get back into the studio!

Congratulations on a great start. You never know what will sell. Personly I like the birds. the abstract above does look like a cold rough sea.

Thanks Ann. It’s been really interesting talking / listening to people this week. Several people have commented on the movement in the more abstract pictures and I think maybe with the birds your eye tends to rest on the bird whereas with the more abstract pictures your eye roams around a bit more. May or may not be the case but an interesting thought.
