When I make a notebook cover, this is how I have been finishing the edges.
I machine sew all around the edge of the flat piece of felt, then I measure and machine sew the flaps in place, then I sew along the top and bottom and flap edges with a blanket stitch.
I have noticed some notebook cover makers finish the edges with a whip stitch, which I have never tried. I am happy with my process, I enjoy it. I was just wondering if anyone who has used whip stitch, if you thought it would be better in any way to my process.

I think it's just personal preference. Your method sounds fine.
