Ooh....niiiice! How much did you hand over for that Lindsay if you don't mind my asking?
The metallic thread flowers are beautiful, I would just keep that part to look at!
I am not a huge nuno felter either but how about incorporating the other sections onto a bag/purses/notebook cover?

It's beautiful and there is so much metreage, I would make a dress from it and keep the off-cuts for nuno sampling/use.

I do use silk a lot as an embellishment so, yes, I will do that but I sort of feel I should do something more special. Maybe i’ll Get my nuno act together and start with a scarf. As I type I’m trying out some squares so i’ll post the results when finished.

Great find Lindsay. You can do samples, but I think you’ll find sari is tightly woven. I agree with Lyn. I have sari ribbon and I sometimes strip the fibers while watching tv and using as embellishments on felt. I’ll be interested to see what you do with all this wonderful sari fabric. As Tracey said you can also use pieces as inclusions. You have a lot of options.

Alas I think this might exceed my abilities - I’ve never made clothing in any fabric. I also can’t wear wool so even if I did manage something nice I’d then have to give it away or sell it. Unless a jacket maybe......

I think the areas with the yellow flowers woven through will be more of an issue - I’ve tried to take photos to show what I mean. www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/46474680www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/46474682The plain area seems to be felting nicely www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/46474730I haven’t plucked up courage to cut any of the metallic flower section yet. I just nibbled a bit off the end.

Very much a bargain at that price, well done for being in the right place at the right time!

If it's light enough to nuno felt, it will look great as a scarf. You are smart to do some samples to see how it will react to the nuno.
Not sure what else I would do with it. I purchase some sari type silk a long time ago and I still have it all folded up and in the cabinet. It's too thick to nuno and tightly woven to nuno.

Definitely looks like it will nuno just fine. I think we must all have very long to do lists.

That deep pink 'ruche-type' sample is divine!

They look great. I often use it for a self lining bag. People really like to have a bag fancy inside too. I have used some in a strip around a hat. I wonder if you could cut out individual flowers and then felt them. I haven't used a lot of mine.
