I am tempted to make my own blending board, but I am wondering if you all think it is worth the bother/expense.
I would only make blended batts to use on notebook covers and cards maybe, that may be it.
I do use hand carders, so would there be any further benefit?
Wingham wool Uk sell the carding cloth for £2.35 per inch, but it is only 7" wide. If you want 12"x12" it comes in at £43.

I would save up for a drum carder instead.

I agree with Ruth. You’ll find more uses for a carder.

If you can only afford one, I would get the drum carder. It is more versatile. You can use your drum carder as a blending board if you want and you can make regular batts or roving. I have a borrowed one at the moment. I wanted to see if I wanted one. They are fun enough to use and more portable than a drum carder. I have been making rollags for spinning and using it for demos. for spinning they are mice as you can have layers of different colours that pop out as you spin. If you can borrow one I would. Give it a try before investing. I will probably get one once the craze is over and they start popping up second hand and cheaper.
