Hiya every one, I'm a long time felter, having run an artist in residence studio in the Noosa Hinterland (in Australia) quite a while ago. I put my felting and art pursuits aside for the past 10 years because life and an assortment of dramas kinda took over! I have an arthritic condition that makes felting painful and somewhat difficult to do, so i'm now wanting to take a couple of gentle steps back into crafting with wool in a different way. What I have I mind is to make craft (small sculptures and toys) with handmade scrap felt pieces that other felters no longer have a use for... I used to have a HUGE bag of scraps myself, but that all went to a homeschooling friend of mine for her kiddos. Is there anyone out there who can suggest how I can advertise a 'wanted' thread so I can put the request to the members?!
Many thanks, and love to all xxKristin

Hi Kristin and welcome to the forum. You can post a request in the Fiber Marketplace section for our members. There are a lot of Facebook felting groups too that will probably let you post a request. Do you have any felting groups in your area? Perhaps you have already asked locally.
Feel free to join in our conversations and share your work when you get going.

Thanks heaps, Ruth. I'll check out the FB option... and try and figure out the other bit about the fibre marketplace. Will have to spend a bit of time looking around the forum!

Hello Kristin - welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear that arthritis is preventing you from felting but it's good that you are looking to other ways to satisfy your creative drive. p.s. have you seen the felt on World of Wool? Here's a link: FELT

I was thinking of prefelt as Lyn suggested. If you needed them felted completely that could be done my "rolling" in a dryer. You can easily dye them too. I don't think buying other peoples scraps would be sustainable. I know I use mine.

World of Wool sell felt (as well as pre-felt) - here's the link: FELTI agree Ann that most felters guard their scraps jealously!

Yes scraps are useful. I found a decent offcut in my stash today, a bit of FME in metallic bling and there's another card for sale

Hi Kristin, welcome to the forum Have you thought about buying whole pieces of felt? It might work out more economical in the long run, and you'd get better pieces, which you could then cut up into the sizes/shapes you want. If you have an idea of a price you're willing to pay, you could request custom pieces? I save and use all mys scraps, but I'd feel a bit odd selling them. I know what they're good for depending on their thickness/thinness, but would they have the same worth to others.
