Hi, I've been a member for a little while but have just plucked up the courage to say hello! I'm completely new to felting but can't believe I didn't know about it before, the creations I've seen here and on the internet are truly amazing and so beautiful! I've loved reading all the posts and advice. I've only made one thing so far which is a nuno scarf, on a one day course. It's not perfect but I love the touch and feel of it. I have a feeling the wool is a little thick and it's not fulled enough as it didn't shrink very much. I'm not sure how to attach a photo, my computer skills are very basic, but will give it a go! If you can see the photo, any advice would be truly appreciated! link Nuno scarf If that doesn't work, I've copied the link here too pin.it/PuAdkA4My next project willl be a pair of slippers. I'd love to know what wool you would suggest? I was thinking of Corriedale but would go with the advice given. I've probably jumped in at the deep end, with trying nuno first and then slippers! However my old slippers are on their last legs and I'm hoping I can't do a lot worse than what I'm wearing now! i have so much to learn and hope you don't mind me asking questions? Thankyou in advance for taking the time to read this long post!!

Hello Rowan and welcome to the forum! Your scarf is beautiful - I like both the colours you've used and the pattern of it.
There are some very good slipper makers on this forum so I hope they can help you with your questions.

Welcome to the forum. We don't mind questions at all. Your scarf looks very nice. The colours are lovely. Corriedale is a god choice for slippers. It wears reasonably well and is available in lots of colours. Blue faced leister, and Finnish are good too and even harder wearing. do a search on slippers and you should get some good information and if you want you can ask for clarification on points that don't quite make sense.

Welcome Rowan! Your scarf is lovely. With Nuno less wool means more ruching (texture). Good luck with the slippers. I look forward to seeing them.

Thanks Lyn for your lovely comments about the scarf.
Shepherdess - thanks for the wool suggestions. Harder wearing wool sound great! I love slippers but they do wear out pretty fast!
MTRuth - I love the slipper tutorial, thanks for the link and the website has been incredibly helpful. Some great resources and tutorials!
Pandagirl - yes, it's definitely less wool next time! I've been looking up different techniques to tease out the wool before laying it down, so fingers crossed when I try again.
Now off to order some wool, then onto making some olive oil soap tomorrow. There's something strangely satisfying in combining two hobbies into one!

That's a great looking scarf Rowan and I hope you have fun making your slippers. I have some 'yeti boots' that I made and pegged out before I had shrunk them sufficiently, so they're several sizes too large, but that does make them easy to get on and off as they are boot shaped. And they're very warm and cosy!

Beautiful scarf Rowan - I love your colours. I would never have thought of combining the greenish colour with purple, but it looks great! If you're a soap maker too have you considered making felted soap? There's a good tutorial on Lyn and Annie's rosiepink blog ... but I haven't got the patience to make it. I've tried a couple of times and the wool just slides right off when I THINK I've got it all felted into place. :-)
