A silk scroll by Suzuki Kiitsu was my inspiration it is a picture of a crane flying over a bonsai tree into the rising sun

The images were cut from prefelt the white added to the crane by needle felting, in hindsight I should not have tried to copy the picture but to have tried my own version. The white over the sun is too strong should have used more of a tan colour and the bonsai tree looks too small. Apologies for not being able to put it all on one post but my IT skills are poor

It's wonderful! I particularly like the markings on the crane and the shape is perfect. I don't think the tree is too small - the size of it throws the crane more into the foreground which is a good thing - and I like the variegation of the green.
I like the white over the sun rather than a tan.

Wow that's great, I haven't seen pre-felt cut so delicately & accurately. I like the white over the sun, it's a pretty, wispy cloud

Great job! The white cloud over the sun instead of the tan makes it your own. I like every aspect of it, well done!

I think it turned out great. I like the crane and the tree and how you added the lichen.

It's a lovely interpretation Pippa. You're off to a flying start on this challenge.
I'm on holiday just now, staying with our son, who has quite a collection of Japanese art books, so I'm finding lots of inspiration.
