A visit to the Maker's Market at The Witham in Barnard Castle today meant we were fortunate to meet Galina again and see her superb work without the help of cyberspace. Lovely to meet again Galina and hope it proves to be a successful weekend for you. All in all a very good visit with wonderful Raku, Glass, jewellery, Fine woodwork, Pole lathing and more. Such a pleasant venue too and of course not far from home.

Galina and I live in the same city so we had a lovely meet and greet over coffee a few weeks back. She bought along some of her lovely work to show me.
Yes I hope it was a good weekend for you Galina.
Still hoping to say hello to you Judith and hopefully Carole too at Woolfest which is racing towards us!

Not sure I can make Woolfest after all, but will definitely be doing British Wool Thirsk in July and it's much handier. Spotted this on Fb this morning. www.facebook.com/designermakersmarkets/photos/pcb.1313718345344091/1313715718677687/?type=3&theater

Such a beautiful stall, looks totally integrated, homogeneous - an ugly word sorry, I'm trying to say it all blends beautifully, as one, while each individual item is very pretty. That shows you found your style, Galina.
I'm jealous of you all meeting up, what a fun coffee morning that would be.

Many thanks to you all! It was my first fair of the year. Really good venue and a great selection of exhibitors. Judith brought me luck, my sales were slow at first and picked up after I met her ! All in all it was a great weekend, meeting nice people and having good sales in fine venue.

It looks so nice! It's great people are getting to meet in real life, too Is there a list anywhere of good fairs and markets? If I can get someone to go with me, I'd love to go to a decent one. It seems like the Yorkshire ones or more rural ones have such lovely handcrafted work.

So glad that it went well, Galina. It is such encouragement for further creativity, isn't it?

Rural venues are popular as they often use the Auction marts. www.nickimerrall.co.uk/beingknitterly/yarn-fibre-festivals-2017/?v=79cba1185463Also Art in the Pen, which has some fibre art. www.artinthepen.org.uk/Might see you one day.

Thanks, Judith I have seen a couple of unusual ones listed for around here which look really nice: www.greenwalk.co.uk/galleryThe 'Maker's Markets' here (I think it's a brand around here) have a lot of tat, which definitely infringes copyright and intellectually property rights.

That one looks nice. The Makers Market last weekend had two areas. We went to the one upstairs first, which was decidedly tat and were about to leave when fortunately we spotted the big room downstairs, at the back with the good stuff. In the tat room there was a table with a few pebbles and some wool tops. No stallholder, Peter said "Is this your friend's stall"? "NO WAY" said I!!! He understood my retort when we cam across Galina's work.

Unfortunately it's the tat here that attracts people and sells, it's probably a good earner for the ones who 'make' it. It's just a weird attitude which luckily (or unluckily for me) is peculiar to Manchester. Make any old crap with something Manc on it, and it will sell... a bee, a landmark, a quote from a Manc/band, or just copy an LP sleeve. I don't know why people think that's any different to downloading someone's photo and selling it I can imagine the look you gave with a gasp when Peter said that!

we are lucky here the craft shows usually don't allow that tat( great word) that is all at the church, school and charity sales. Unfortunately most good ones are to big and expensive for us small fries.
