So Tracey, you're no stranger to the large pod then? Going by the photo, I had no idea your seashore pod was so big. With regard to injury, yes, it can knacker you quite easily can't it?
Yes Zed, and nearly all cat caves are made with flat resists so it must be an ok method.

It looks like a slighter smaller curling stone !!!

Ror a round resist like that I might pop a ball bladder or balloon inside and let it tumble in the dryer a bit to save some elbow grease. You could use plastic to make sure the cut pieces didn't stick to the body of the vase and use the top part of some nylons to secure the whole thing. I use things to push out from the inside to add shape to vessels. making a bulging line around them or bulging spots. wooden spoons and honey dippers work well for that kind of shaping. I will have to see if I have a picture of an old one I did.

I am happy that this topic came up because I have just finished my first vessel. I followed a set of directions that had a couple of steps left out, but I was able to figure it out, and I am pleased with what I got, excepted it is too thin; I think when i was laying out the six layers, I made the layers too thin.
I made good use of my palm boards; used the basic at the start, and when I had a couple of layers I used the deeper one. But what was really helpful was using the rounded board, made for such a use. Because of the handle I was able to use lots of pressure, kind of like having a set of wooden knuckles.
I have seen a reference to a tutorial by Lyn. Could someone kindly post this? I did find the video tutorial from Living Felt very useful.

Thanks for the link. So glad that I found your site.
I am most impressed by your written directions; thorough and clear. The writing of good directions is a skill lacking in many writers. Also a skill that gets short shrift in school curricula. So here’s to the British education system.
I was compelled ( rationalizing here), to purchase your three ebooks.
“O, TO be in England Now that April 's there,” well almost!
I would drive along the south coast, revel in the daffodils and find your shop in Bournemouth. (Here,in Canada, daffs only grow in gardens)

Thank you Liza! We have tried our best to write the instructions clearly because when we were starting out we became frustrated with so many vague instructions that seemed to skip bits of vital info. We are also happy for people to contact us at any time if they have any problems with our instructions.
It is lovely to drive out on a sunny spring day to see all the daffs that have been planted in green spaces all over the country!

That's a pretty selection of vessels Lindsay! Good tip about marking where the valve is.

Great vessels. I never seemed to have the patience to work over a ball.
