I take the blame but you should show how the fabric looks felted, so that I would buy myself and could blame you in turn !

They look gorgeous, I need to forget the link and yours, Jill I have to say though, as someone who's had to photograph, list, pack and post fabrics and fibres, no amount of 'profit' is going to come close to the hours you spend putting into it. Lyn warned me, I still did it!

Elizabeth, that was a good find - a very pretty & unusual sari. Marilyn, these are vintage, used saris, so there is only 1 of each.
Which reminds me, they do often have a very bonfire-y smell, many years of being worn by ladies cooking over open fires I guess. I usually wash before use, as the new sari's can discharge some dye. But of course, with nuno, they get a good wash during the process.
I've always been confused about the 'sari thread'/ 'sari fibres' thing - is it waste from the weaving process or something else?

Jill I'm not sure. I know I've purchased "ends" then pull them apart for threads. Sorry about that Ann. We are all tempted. :-)

I assumed the silk sari thread/yarn thing was because you get so much thread waste from tearing fabric and they found a use for it. I know now just how many of us keep thread waste, and how it adds up, it must be huge in an industry!

That was quick! I ordered from 'Indian Beautiful Art' trading as Vintageandyou on UK Amazon. I paid between £12 - £15 per sari with free delivery. They say they only deliver to the UK, so I used a family member's address there, then emailed & asked them to send to me in Greece .... 1 week later a call from a courier & here they are. In the past postage has taken 3 weeks or so.
If anyone would like a couple of pieces to try, please do send me a message with your address - UK/ Europe I guess makes sense re postage costs, I'm happy to pay those as it's lightweight. Especially as I inadvertently bought 2 very similar saris in pink & orange/gold (& I don't like pink!), so I'll never use it all. Serves me right for getting overexcited & rushing the order!
I'm just finishing an art quilt dog portrait, once the machine & pile of cotton fabrics are put away I'll get some felting out again.
