Does anyone else wish sometimes that you could just set your project before felting? Sometimes I really like the unfelted layout of an art piece and wish I didn't have to felt it.

All the time! it looks so soft and duvet-like then you flatten it with water. I am laying out a scene at the moment, I'll try and remember to take a before picture.

You could always put it under glass to save it that way. Of course you lose the texture that way.

Oh yes. When you stand there looking at your beautiful and large layout, and know it's going to shrink considerably and you'll wonder were all those lovely bits you put in disappeared to... ;-)

Yeah, deffo! A spray which won't disturb it, but will fix into place without any stiffness! Displayed flat in a deep frame/shadowbox thingie is an awkward option!
