I have an old silk chiffon dress which is heavily embellished with sequins & beading. It has sat in my wardrobe for probably 20 years, having been worn maybe twice. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it for all that time! But it's never going to be worn, & I have just realised I can chop it up & make some very fancy nuno!

My thoughts are to include it on a vase type vessel - using the working from the inside technique on a resist, to avoid too much direct rubbing? Any advice anyone who has used anything similar? Other ideas?

Jill, I have never tried anything like this myself but have been told once: if you felt sequinned fabric it can happened that due to shrinkage the sequins become too tight and stand on their ends (like hedgehog I would strongly advise trying it first before start a large project.

I have never done anything that heavily sequinned. I think the inside out would work. I don't rub a lot these days I like rolling better.

Yes it is very pretty Jill, I agree with making a small sample, no point wasting time and effort.

I think since you have quite a bit of space in between the sequinned bits that it would work. As everyone else has said, do a small sample first so you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful Jill! I can't wait to see what you do with this. Probably more than one project if it's a dress. Have fun!

OK (Boo) I'll make a sample, I know you're all right, I'm just not a sample kinda girl! Aha I know: I'll make a small notebook cover/ sample combo. & really good point about the hedgehogs, Galina, I would never have thought of that. Be back in a few days (painting doors today, craft market tomorrow) with the done sample. Thanks all.

I agree with Ruth. It should be fine because there is a lot of fabric between the sequin ares. I've felted more heavily-sequinned fabrics and they did not 'hedgehog. I posted a pic on one once - I was trying to make a vessel but it wanted to be a purse. I'll try to find it.

That looks like it could be painful! Are the beads real glass? Be careful, they can crush easily.
