It has been a project but I've been rumbling away at it and loved every minute I am completely taken with this process, now I want to learn weaving techniques :-)

Fabulous, a great deal of work but as you say so satisfying. I liked all the posts so hopefully they will show up in my newsfeed. What are you planning to make?

My daily dose was a little plying. The red is merino and the blue/green ( called mallard green I think) is some silk I dyed myself I need to take it off on a swift. both singles had been sitting a long time and were set and I am not really sure I plied it all in the right direction as we were chatting a lot and I wasn't paying attention. It may need to be replied. .

Ann I like your replying the ply :-) nice combo too, you are very neat at spindling, I tried linen today not on a spindle on a wheel and it was interesting spin I think it would work well for as a warp.
I am going to make a sleeveless jacket, tomorrow is my class so I will hopefully have most of the weaving done by then, it is a bit exciting to actually make something :-)

Thanks, Are you spinning the flax wet? Can't wait to see your jacket.

I have read about that, but on Saturday the guild are doing a day on spinning fibres other than animal so I am hoping to pick up some tricks then, I'll let you know.

Looking good Carole. There's great satisfaction in taking raw fleece to fabric. I'm just fighting with my first double heddle warp, using some cheap commercial yarn as I didn't want to waste my handspun on this trial piece and it's not easy to work with.

Judith you know we were talking at that at the weaving class this morning, how are you getting on? apart from the yarn :-) I downloaded Liz Gipsons for my first attempts and like you I used some cheap fibre but it turned out OK, I think I may be following in your footsteps again very soon.
Today I am taking the current weave off the loom for washing before cutting up to make something with!!! nervous :-)

No progress today on the loom. I really had to do some housework! Good luck with your cutting. Do you seal the cutting lines with iron on interfacing or zig zag stitching before you cut? I haven't actually cut any of mine yet, but I was advised to do this.

All of the above Judith :-) and probably some superglue too :-) seriously it's iron-on interfacing and I'm planning to use my overlocker then because it's a loose weave I may fold the seam over and do a running stitch on the machine, I'll know better this time next week - as the deed will be done by then :-)
