Good idea Marilyn ... But I might want something a bit wider to hide the seagull stitching on the back. Suppose I could just put interfacing right over the back, hide the stitching and add bias tape

Yes I noticed the 'friend straying', maybe she had to round her up like a sheep, very apt!

Lol! And I'm a proofreader! Embarrassing! :-) friend was well-behaved in fact and didn't stray at all!

With Tracey's driftwood by Anne Hickley, on Flickr At last I have hung the picture, using Tracey's driftwood - but I will rehang it with some better coloured ribbon or possibly invisible thread, some point soon. I think I'll be very happy with it ...eventually ...but right now I don't like that black ribbon. It's very fine organza ribbon and I hoped it would look suitably flimsy and kind of blend with the wall ... but it doesn't! I like the way the picture and the driftwood look though, so it's just getting the bit in between right now! Thanks again, Tracey!

I like it except the middle ribbon. maybe sew a pocked put a dowel in it so you only have to hang it from each side but you still have support for the middle.

It turned out great. I do like the driftwood. It looks a little off center with the longer loop in the middle. Perhaps another more neutral colored ribbon or as you mentioned invisible thread. I'm sure you'll get it the way you want it.

It looks great with the driftwood. Ann's idea is a good one. I think it would look more balanced with only the ribbons on each side.

The picture looks lovely with the wood - I hope you soon find the fixing you like so that you can enjoy your art.

Hey hey looking good!! I go with the others, I don't mind the dark ribbon as it picks up the dark section of your sea, but lose the middle one and balance the sides. Experiment with invisible thread too, maybe because of the wall colour the black ribbon stands out too much, you'll sort it out I'm sure. Big grin on my face, glad to have helped.

Thanks everyone - and duh, it's already got a sleeve (just no dowel in it as yet) so Ann, that's a most excellent idea! Thanks again Tracey...will try to post another photo soon with just two ribbons and a dowel in the sleeve! (It has a sleeve because I'm going to exhibit it in an IFA exhibition, but its driftwood can't accompany it as it is too long - they have a strict size restriction!)
