Hi Elizabeth. I have made a couple of soaps so far, I also used 23 micron dyed merino. I bought a decent branded soap. I think folk are firstly attracted to the colour, then it's straight to their nose! This is the perfect opportunity to ask you all a question please. I thought I would make a few to stash away, then I thought I may have jumped the gun, anyone suggest how long the scent takes to deteriorate? I have used liquid soap for years so I have no idea how bar soap behaves.

I have used liquid soap for years so I have no idea how bar soap behaves. I suppose it depends on the soap, but I stored some felted soap from one year to the next (between Christmas craft fairs) in a large plastic box with a lid (the box wasn't completely airtight) and the scent remained just fine.

Excellent Lyn, thank you. I could put them in a zip lock bag.

By the way, bar soap sales have been in decline these past few years, apparently younger people think they are unhygienic and prefer liquid soap. They are still popular with the older generation, so yes, still make them for craft fairs! If you ask me, that's young folk getting into a lather over nothing.....sorry...couldn't resist it...

Good one Tracy!
Personally, I have not found felted soap sells at the craft fairs I go to I think for exactly that reason, Tracy, almost everyone uses liquid soap in a dispenser now.

I've been trying to find a decent (cheap) supplier of handmade/natural soaps. I was lucky at first and got some good quality really cheap, like Lyn suggested.
I used all natural wools and fibres on those, I thought it fit with the 'theme', mostly Merino and Finnish I think.
We used Johnson's baby soaps for the craft fair, mild and gentle and as close to 'natural' as we thought people would like. We used 23 mic Merino in all sorts of colours on those.

I prefer bar soap. I find that liquid soaps are harder to rinse from my skin.
