I came across this interesting Japanese 'Striing' gardening technique. Basically you wrap the ball of a small shade-tolerant plant in spahgnum moss. Then wrap it securely with twine and hang it. There are version of it where the spaghnum moss is replaced by real moss. Then I found THIS one where the moss was replaced with 'poly felt'. Before i even saw that I was thinking... FIBER!!! I have a lot of waste fiber that I've pulled from carding some raw wool. I've been putting it outside for the critters. I think I may gather some up and try one of these. Good idea. I have put out bird nest material. The squirrel liked it too.

Great idea Elizabeth. I've seen these kokedama balls but hadn't thought of using up waste fibre. I might give it a try. Thanks for the tip.
