Oops Linn! posted my reply in the wrong place. I'm glad you found it, Linn. FYI I have a shorthair ginger and a medium-longhair torbie. You know you're a fiber addict when... The skirt I'm wearing today has a lovely. loosely-woven, aqua cotton lining. It passes the blow test. I could always wear a slip under it and 'repurpose' the lining....:-)

I just made my first Nuno shawl and I am very pleased with it...however, I just read about using scrim. I did not use scrim, actually had never heard of it. What am I missing?
also, when laying down wool fibre, do I need to have two layers going in perpendicular fashion?

Hi Liza, we’d love to see your Nuno shawl. As far as scrim it’s like cheesecloth very open weave. Scrim can be a little tighter weave depending on where you buy it. I’ve used both and the wool just grabs it and makes beautiful textures. However, you usually have to dye it with procion dyes since it’s cotton. Unless you keep it plain white which is ok, too. I hope you give it a try and show us your results. Here is a blog I wrote about making a jewelry roll. There is scrim on each side of the Nuno in the middle. I hope you can see it in these pics. feltingandfiberstudio.com/2015/08/29/take-one-take-two-and-roll/

Hi Liza, different types of fabric can be used for many different ways of nuno felting. The best way to learn is to keep experimenting, making samples and trying different types of wool placement. The wool placement will make the item shrink differently, really there are no rules, just different results.

Liza, is your photo somewhere else online? That address looks like it is part of your personal computer. Your photo has to be stored online somewhere. There are free options like drop box or ipernity or flikr. Keep trying, we'd love to see your work.
