We have 34c/93f today wit a humidex of 40c/104f. Yhe only time I was in Texas it was really humid too.
The eco prints are very good. How do they stand up to washing and light?

So far, so good, Ann. I have been living in my up cycled eco-printed tops this summer and there has been no color loss thus far. After the first hand wash, the tops get thrown in the machine with the rest of the clothes.

Cathy, if you ever come down to Houston to visit your son, give me a head's up. My in-laws live there and I'd love to have 'diversions' when we visit them. We have to start doing it fairly frequently since they're in their early 80s. No, they will NOT budge out of their 4000 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 3 living area, 2-story house.

Thanks Cathy ,Chicago is bit far from Australia but you never know - one day I could land on your doorstep. My daily doses are still curtailed by my shoulder but I have been sewing some clothing for the TAFTA Geelong Fibre Forum in September so not a total loss. Not sure if I mentioned that I will be taking Dawn Edwards from Michigan's class of 3d and hatmaking - can't wait! TAFTA link

Cathy - Apart from blackberries, I've not had any fading of my ecoprints either.

I found rose petals, blackberries and some red cabbage is fugitive but I do think it depends on time and mordant too. What do you think Cathy?

yesterday and today I back to felting but just small pieces for flowers that I rub rather roll with my shoulder. I just finished sewing two long vests with pockets for 'stuff' to wear at the Forum, so I want to add embellishments of felt flowers with button centres as the theme is Blossoms,Buttons and Bows. ( still not with the bows though - my mind refuses.)I wonder if I cut ribbons of felt and make felt blossoms will that pass? A bit like this one maybe? Would this pass for a ribbon flower?

Several daily doses here: Approaching a mile of singles for weaving. Black is Zwartbles, grey Masham, dyed and natural shades of Shetland. Now for a yardage project I have in my head. Don't hold your breath! CIMG7465 by Judith Robinson, on Flickr

Sue I think they would pass as felt ribbons. have you thought of rolling with your feet? put the rolled up and tied project on a towel or in a boot tray and roll back and forth with your feet.
Some lovely spinning there Judith. I have never seen gray Mashum for sale. Was it really long stapled?

Ann - Thanks. The Masham is about a 6 - 7" staple, I got it as roving from Wingham, but I'm sure WoW will have it, though I can't recommend it as a felting wool. I wanted felted single and this stuff just refused to play the game, despite rough washing, temperature shocks and a lot of thwacking!

Thanks Marilyn , will certainly take some pics if Dawn approves. Usually they don't object if you show your own work and not share techniques. I follow her on fb and she usually shares photos of the class. Youll have to let us know if you're in any and point yourself out to us. Because I'm sure you're not the chicken in your profile pic. :-) The flower is lovely. I hope you recover in time for the class.

Sue - I like the colour combo in your pretty flower and the button in the middle is perfect.
Judith - a whole mile! Kudos.

Wow, Judith you are really being adventurous with your spinning and weaving. Look forward to seeing the results.
Chookie, you have the coolest fiber festivals in your part of the world. So envious! And, I have never used rose petals or blackberries for eco-dyeing or printing but recently used red cabbage and couldn’t stand the smell. ;-((
