Link to the Arrowmont website. November 13-19, 2016 at Arrowmont School of Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN (just minutes from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.) I've taken workshops here, but this will be my first time teaching! The course will cover both wet and needle felting techniques, and how to combine the two to create free-standing sculpture. Using wire, found objects and wool as armature, students interested in creating dynamic sculpture will create their own designs. Wool varieties, tools, surface design and finishing techniques are covered. Needle-felters wanting to try wet-felting or vice versa are encouraged to attend, though all skill levels are welcome. If you have any questions about the course or Arrowmont in general, send me a message! I know the class already has enough registered students to go forward.

Very exciting Shana! And what a wonderful location too.
I'd love to see some photos if you are allowed to post them.

I'll definitely take photos. The school itself is really good about posting images and instructor videos too on Facebook. I've been watching them religiously to prepare myself.
Last summer, I drove up to meet Stephanie Metz in person while she was teaching a packed needle-felting class. I ended up demonstrating for a half day on stiffening and wet-felting and apparently made an impression, because I was invited to teach this year.

I have always longed to take a class at Arrowmont! They have such a wonderful variety of instruction. Kudos for being asked to teach there. Hope it goes well!

Whine!!! I love the Gatlinburg area! I grew up in N Al and Ga. We visited Gatlinburg several times. Even managed to unexpectedly meet a cousin coming off the Appalachian trail. He drew the short straw and had to come into town to do the laundry. The short straw won him a shower and a nice dinner. Great memories.

Years ago, a friend of mine broke her hip on the Appalachian trail. No moblie phones then, but fortunately they weren't too far from a settlement. She returned the following year to pick up where they left off. I'd say that's dedication, together with a very good recovery! lol
