Speaking of old age, I turned 71 on Thursday. Arthritis keeps trying to take me down, but I still manage to work in my studio most days. I did some paper dyeing and posted the results on my blog page named "Projects of Interest." I also am working ahead for next year, gathering elements for a mixed media piece. I did do some wet felting for that project. I wanted to make some of my needlefelted sheets stronger. It seemed to work well. I am working on an abstract design that will involve something I call Facet Design. I used it in a larger work recently. I watched the Russian lady, but could not tell what was going on. Strange though, my grandmother came from Yugoslavia/Croatia area and the language sounded like her.

It's always interesting to hear/see what other people have been up to. I've just got back from a 10 day holiday so haven't been doing any felting. I took needlelace with me to do as that is really portable.
Coming up though I have just fixed the date to run my first nuno scarf workshop so I will be prepping for that. Our local monthly market restarts this weekend after being closed for the summer (our summer is too hot as most days are over 40c). The tourists are back in town for the winter high season, temperatures are averaging 35c at the moment which is a pleasant change!
I also have some exhibitions I want to make pieces for so I have a very busy time ahead.

Happy birthday, Judy I liked your paper dyeing. Thanks, Kaz, Pam and Ruth. I did some more nuno samples yesterday and here's another finished piece from the other day. I have a list of things I want to make, so I think I'll make a stack of pieces then match them up.

Happy belated birthday, Judy. Your website is wonderful and your talent is awesome!
Zed, love the newest piece.
I actually did a red/peach silk bowl yesterday. Came out nice, but now I need to figure out what I want to do with this newfound knowledge, if anything.

Zed - the newest nuno sample is great.
Pam - I love the silk bowls and silk paper but didn't ever find a real practical use for the bowls. They are really pretty but people always want to know "what do you do with them?" Somehow they can't have anything just because it's beautiful.

Unfortunately, Ruth, I feel a little like those people, but I have been conjecturing all night (maybe congitating too) and have come up with a couple - maybe three - things I want to try that might be at least a little useful. Today I made a square using silk hankies and the goopy stuff and it's almost dry now, so I'll see how it goes.

Thanks Pam and Ruth Pam, maybe you could make your own '500 bowls' book

Great sample Zed. People have the same problem with felt bowls. Having to put a glass inside to put flowers in them seems to complicated. It's to bad, bowls are fun to make, they don't have to fit anyone. I guess that's why bird houses are fun to make.

Oh, you are soooooo funny, Zed. I never want to make 500 of anything!
I, however, did make a trinket box last night from the goo'd hankies. I'm overcoming obstacles right now, and adding embellishment is in the plans.
