Today I was at the Dyers, Spinners and Weavers Guild in Edinburgh, everyone has been working on the same piece of fibre to create a square, so as you can imagine there are woven, knitted, tapestry pieces, just lovely, they want to put them all together for promoting the guild and I have been asked to felt the centre-piece, so that was honor number one, then we had a talk by Debbie Zawinski about her book 'In the footsteps of sheep' www.schoolhousepress.com/in-the-footsteps-of-sheep-1261.htmlNot only did she go wild camping on her own around Scotland, from Orkney, to Shetland to the Outer Hebrides then down to the Borders, collecting different fleece all found; that was in the fields and the hedgerows but she spun it using hedgerow sticks and knitted socks - an amazing journey. I came home feeling like I had been in a warm bubble bath, sitting around with about 25 others some spinning on wheels, some spindling, some carding with large brushes, some knitting all listening to Debbie telling her talks - joy :-)

Congratulations carol, that is an honour indeed! As much as I love my local swad group I can't help feeling a bit of a fraud at their meetings, they're not really geared up for felters even though at least a third of the members make at least some felt. For a felter to be given pride of place is an accolade indeed, well done!
