Just a little report, really. I'm currently taking my first Craftsy course. I have looked at them on & off for a long time & yesterday stumbled across Stitch & Slash by Carol Ann Waugh. I have her 'Stupendous Stitching' book already. I wanted to try raw edge applique/ reverse applique/ stitch & slash method for a while, so yesterday I dived in!
What an excellent course; it's so detailed, Carol is very generous & very clear with her tutoring. You can watch all the episodes of videos first, or like me, watch the first couple of segments then dive in! I was slashing at 11pm last night & could hardly make myself stop! You can post updates, ask for confirmation of fabric choices, questions on the process etc & I was surprised how interactive it is (not sure whether that would be the same for all the classes, I think this is a popular one). & on special offer, so very cost effective.
Has anyone else experience of taking Craftsy classes? What did you think?

I'd have dived in too Jill, patience is not one of my virtues! I've taken Craftsy Classes, mostly freebies, though I did pay for a couple when they were on offer. I think they're very good. The coat making class was excellent at about £25 including a Vogue Pattern, which alone would have cost around £12.

I have never taken a Craftsy class, but they have many tempting offers. So reasonably priced, too. So glad to hear you both enjoyed the classes!

Oh dear, don't let my 1st attempt put you off! c3.staticflickr.com/8/7002/27172216402_4bb400ffdc_b.jpgIt'll be a cushion (pillow) I think, although I do like it my free-motion machine skills are not quite up to scratch. I've never tried this technique before & the course really was extremely helpful, I have learnt loads so my next attempt should be better.

I think that looks great and it certainly wouldn't put me off. Looks like a fun technique and free motion just takes practice.

I think it's good, the key word is 'free', i.e. however and wherever you want to put it. A pair of quilting gloves helps to move the piece around under the foot. They come at various prices from budget to plain silly, rubber gloves can work, as long as you don't have a huge area to cover - hands can get a bit sweaty.

I've signed up for a free motion course and have only watched part of it. I know they'll be there when I want. I'm glad you found it somewhat helpful. Your sample looks good. I'm sorry I don't have anything to show for mine. :-(! I need to dive in as well!

Finished! I really feel as if I have just attended a 3 day workshop, but all for 19 Euros! A super, detailed, clear course. I recommend it to anyone wanting to try a different quilting/ sewing technique. c3.staticflickr.com/8/7244/27250956786_0d17c5cb77_b.jpgI had fun with the back, as I made a strip of fabric from the leftovers, then recycled a man's shirt including the button placket for the pillow opening: c6.staticflickr.com/8/7550/26678320133_24d3b7f562_b.jpgI'm off now to look for the free-motion course Marilyn hasn't yet quite tested for us

Beautiful job Jill!
Perhaps when I return from California I'll have to see the course through and if I can control the machine. :-). The course I bought is Starting Free Motion Quilting by Elizabth Dackson.
