My daily dose has been to make a felt flower for another knitted bonnet and to lay out the fabric for my vest- phew that is a job. so far I have 3 metres by 1 metre laid out and need to wet and roll it to get the rest of the fabric onto the table.I should have pushed the other table into the studio but there wasn't room and I would not have been able to reach the centre either. I have now finished laying out and will do some deco on the white fleece in black and red. The reverse is black & white lace in a small open weave pattern. I do need some advice as to sewing the side seams, as it will be reversible, how do I make the seams ok to be visible from both sides? French Seams? I am not a seamstresses bootlace I fear.

My daily dose has been natural dyeing for awhile. This time, black walnut dyeing (thanks for the walnuts, Marilyn!) black walnut dyeing by catwycliff, on Flickr

Sue - French seams would probably be best but I am not a seamstress either. Good luck!
Cathy - nice colors from the black walnuts.

I think French seams would be good but the do take extra fabric usually. depending on the loook you want just top stitching may work.

Thanks Judith exactly what I needed. That was one rattly sewing machine she used! I do wonder if the felt turnover will be too bulky either way but will try it out on a test piece.
Cathy that walnut dye is a lovely warm colour I will definitely try that next season.Do you use green hulls or shells or whole nut?
One of my long time fibre suppliers is going out of business and is giving me at cost the last 6.5 kilo (13Lb approx) of her fleece.....that will keep me busy!! ideas are buzzing.

Here is the finished vest layout before I wet it down. Two fronts and a back. Fingers crossed it goes well.I am thinking maybe I need to make the flowers bigger to allow more for shrinkage - what do you think felters? The table is approx a metre wide (38"). Attachments:

It looks beautiful. Perhaps do a small test sample to see how they will look? It could save you a lot of disappointment.
