It's funny but a lot of the spinners/knitters on the UK spinning facebook group swear by Gotland as a soft wool. Whenever anyone asks for a soft grey breed, my immediate thoughts are Merino and Finnish, but almost everyone says Gotland. I know it's not Herdwick coarse, but you'd think it was camel soft the way spinners like it

I know what you mean Zed. I have had a mohair breeder try to convince me it was next to the skin soft.

Here in the US, it is considered a medium micron wool, not for next to skin. A lot of spinners like the locks for spinning art yarns. It makes a wonderful buocle yarn.
