Are members of this forum also International Feltmakers Association members ? Its a British organisation but accepts members around the world.
I am considering joining & would welcome any members' thoughts on the benefits, how active it is etc. Many thanks Jill

Hi Jill I have been an Ifa member for 3 or 4 years now. For me the biggest draw is the product liability insurance which is worldwide, it also provides cover for teaching but that be uk specific. The membership is less than I can get the same insurance for on its own. They also have some very active groups dotted around the uk, most bring in tutors but some are more like monthly play dates. I don't get the impression the groups outside the uk are very active. The annual Agm is worth attending when they organise a variety of tutors over the course of a week, sadly they aren't doing this in 2016

I looked into it as a Canadian and found it to really be non existent here. The Rep for Canada wouldn't even answer my email. I think if you live in the UK it would be good.

Hello Everyone.
I became a member last year. This organization is great for professional teacher and those who live in the UK.. The only benefit I received from my $80.00 AD membership was the Magazine which was nice but compared to the Australia Felt Magazine I would spend my money on the Australian one.. The Canadian representative which is suppose to be for the North American members only wrote one email to say she was the representative.. I will not renew my membership... I was very disappointed...

I looked into it a while ago and couldn't see any benefits.

I tend to agree Judy, the IFA magazine isn't worth it, the Aussie Felt magazine is heaps better. I'm not sure if the insurance is international or not, given the name, I think it should be but an email to the secretary would clear that up.
It's disappointing that some of the coordinators don't do anything useful, some are brilliant (I've been to a couple of workshops in region 1, even though its a 4 hour drive away) others, like my own, don't appear to run any workshops at all.
