I decided to make a smaller piece based on a photo of some cone flowers and using some ochre coloured wool as the base colour. I'm afraid I cheated a little and added a brighter yellow for the central flower [sheepish grin] I like the cartoon quality of it as it stands but think I will used some of the left-over batts and prefelts to add some shading to give the flowers more of a 3-D effect. I have made a start on the hooded jacket too but it still has some way to go...

You did right to add the bright yellow - I love those flowers just as they are!
I have a feeling that the hooded jacket is going to look good.

Great job on the flowers Teri. I can't wait to see how the garment progresses.

Here's my monochrome challenge piece. I decided on blue ... but it really was a challenge sticking to just blue because I kept wanting to throw in a yellow accent or two! It's a vessel that stands 28cm/11" tall, and once the felt had formed, I fulled and shaped it quickly and roughly so that it took on a bubbly appearance. I decided on the bubbly look as soon as I'd chosen the embellishment fabric. It was formed over an oval resist and I cut the top off in a wavy fashion.

Great flower pic, Teri, did you make& cut pre- felt for the flowers? They've stayed nicely separated from the background.
Oh, more photos of the hoodie, please, it looks great so far, love the design.

Thanks Jill, yes I made some prefects from carded batts and cut the petal shapes from them. There's a better description and more photos on my blog.
I think I have finished fulling the jacket now, it's drying on my mannequin but I think I will go back and try to reshape the hood once the sleeves are attached.

What a stunning bowl Lyn! I can't stop looking at it!
Did you use some non-felting material under the white dots? I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how you got the silk to balloon in just the right spots!

Or did you use pieces of different coloured prefelts under the silk which has created the different coloured bumps? You have me fascinated

Gorgeous bowl Lyn! Is that silk habatoi as the embellishment? Thank you Marilyn. Annie found this material in a charity shop - it's a synthetic netting with semi-solid bubbles on it. The bubbles range from mid-blue through to white. The netting attached to the merino fibres but in the main the bubbles didn't.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how you got the silk to balloon in just the right spots! It was brilliant - I didn't have to do anything! See post above, i.e. reply to Marilyn. Please excuse this photo, but I only snapped it quickly on my phone during the layout planning. I had 'wrapped' my resist with 4 layers on both sides of the oval resist, using three different blues, and I wanted to plan the embellishment. So I used the paper template to play around with circles of fabric until I liked the design, then I used the photo as an aide-memoire during the placement of the fabric on both sides of the vessel.
