I think Burlap is what we call Hessian. Perhaps you should dampened the fabric and really stretched it on, so it would shrink and tighten up as it dried. Thanks for the tip Judith. If I decide to redo it with burlap I'll try your tip.

It is beautiful Judith. Thanks for the idea of putting on canvas quickly. And also the tip for cleaning brushes.
Sometimes gallery owners will help you with pricing. I do all the time for artists who are just starting out.

Judith your piece is fabulous, I've never tried using natural dyes, I love what you have achieved.

They went to the gallery this morning and I was very pleasantly surprised at the price she advised. Gobsmacked as they say in the best of circles Let's see if she was right. Inspired, I took away some weeds a neighbour was pulling up, came home, cut lots more fennel flowers before they seed and it's now bubbling on the stove.

Best of luck Judith! I'm sure she knows what she's doing so how exciting it will be when they go home with a new owner

Went to ccollect my grandchildren from school today, the school is called 'Oakfield', so naturally there are lots of oak trees in the grounds. Before leaving we picked a boxful of 'knopper galls' i.e. acorns in which a gall wasp had laid her eggs. They'll soon be in the pot to make mordant.

Lucky you Judith, I can't wait to see how these acorns dye. Good luck at the gallery.
