Thanks Marilyn, it started as quite a simple princess line design with just shibori panels over the hips but as I worked on it I thought some more shibori over the shoulders would work well and so it kinda grew and grew Tatiana is a Russian born costume designer who now lives in Australia, she's currently doing a bit of a teaching global tour so it might be worth googling her to see if she is headed your way. I went out to Fiberfusing in the Netherlands for this workshop.

Teri you must have learned a lot to make that leap, but it worked out well. I'll check her classes out and see if she's coming this way. Thanks.

WOW! The jacket/dress is gorgeous! Are the sleeves also part of the outfit or is that something else you made? I am familiar with TS, because she is always mentioned when someone discusses fabulous felt garments on-line.
Thanks for the tip on the nesting balls. If I run across any willow, I will give it a try, but not so easily done, I imagine. You are right, I don’t think the birds care about the actual shape. I will try to take a photo later.

Thanks Cathy, it's all one garment (a long sleeved jacket). TS is very much from the tailoring fraternity (she does not like making garments over a resist) but I have plans to try making the body of a jacket over a resist and then attach the sleeves..... but I also want to make a nuno dress with princess seams too, far too many ideas and nowhere near enough time!
Willow whips (less than 1 year of growth) are great for weaving with because they haven't yet branched making it easier to feed them through your ball but I imagine and fast growing woody plant will have the same qualities.

amazing jacket. If it's not done over a resist how do you put it all together?

Amazing indeed, Teri. I can't imagine how huge that collar piece must have been before felting, with all those pleats! it's super, really unique. & very wearable too.

Beautiful jacket - love the pleated look around the collar - is that nuno with silk to create the look

Thanks everyone, you are too kind Ann - it was sewn together from nuno felt yardage, as Jill noted, LOTS of yardage! I started out with about 10 metres of silk. Just making the fabric took 2 days! This technique probably isn't going to be commercially viable but making all the shibori was so much fun I will definitely be doing some more.

I've been carding batts off and on for the Makefest at Museum of Science and Industry. I bought about 11 packs of Merino, ROYGBV and an extra couple of blues and greens, So I'm going to make up a few batts to take. Drum carded batts par Zedster01, on ipernity
