Hello everyone, As we were leaving the Kentucky Artisan Center a piece of art protraiting a jockey at the Kentucky Derby caught my eye.. First I thought Wool fibers were being used.. The closer I looked I could not really decide what kind of fiber it was. I looked at the write up about this piece of art and discovered this "Mystery Fiber" was "Lint".... What a surprise.. I never seen anything like it before.. below is the piece of art I am talking about. It is "Art Lint" by Daryl Davis.. What do you all think??? feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/ozpaxesuob_ebtmk4aga.jpgAttachments:

Only the super-enlarged photo shows the texture, and then it looks like fiber. If the entire artwork was made with lint, I think that’s amazing. Talk about reducing waste and recycling materials….

Pretty cool. I used to save lint to make paper and when you think about its all fiber so why not!

What I remember was that the art also included, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, fabric, wood along with the lint. The cost of this piece of art is $2,500.00...
When I first looked at it I thought that "Wool Nepps" was being used.....And when I read about the piece I found out it was Lint.. Smile. Very creative, hey...

I have seen some artwork before made with lint. But this piece is much more impressive than the ones I saw.

Interesting. I once started saving lint for who-knows-what project. My DH drew the line at that. I still would prefer to throw it outside for the birds, but since he does 75% of the laundry I've let it go.

What we call Lint isn't belly button or dryer fluff, so maybe it's made from that. I'd be grossed out if it was full of manky dead skin cells.

I just knew that was going to be Willard Wigan (I misremembered him as Wiggins, though!)

I just laughed out loud when he mentioned that he once drew a breath at the wrong time and inhaled his work
