Hello Everyone, thanks for the nice comments on my silk paper... I have bought a papermaking kit so I do plan making regular paper too.. I reckon I could add a silk hankie and see what happens.. Smile... Lun and Judith how would you combine silk paper with "Felt"?.... Do you all any photos demo this? Today it is to be 50F and for the next several days... very unbelievable but Winter is to return next week... Very sad face... We plan to pack up the camper with our stuff now because I reckon by February it will be buried in snow.. Does anyone have any suggestions of their favorite places to visit in Florida? ? Judy as I have mentioned we love Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach but it is on the East Coast and you will be on the west coast of Florida - my brother likes St. George Island which would be north of St. Petersburg and might not be as warm as you like. Have a wonderful trip - we will go back to Georgia around the 10th of January for dental, doctor appointments, visits with family, catch up with my garden club and flower show planning and then we come back to Florida April through July 4.

Zed the purse is awesome - not sure I want to take on another hobby but the silk paper really makes a statement.

This is a piece I made with silk paper. The iris are the silk paper part. There are other bits of fabric in there too. The silk paper was the kind made with spray starch and not glue. Usually the glued kind is a bit thicker and might not felt in as well.

The irises are very nice! One of my favorite flowers. The stitching definitely adds to felted pieces that I have seen here. Definitely something to keep in mind, plus I'd use my sewing machine a lot more than I do now.

Thanks a lot everyone I love that piece, Ruth Frances, as long as you've got an iron, some scrap brown wrapping paper and cotton fabric, all you need is a can of spray starch.

Some silk papers I made ages ago:- woven silk carrier rods, which made a very sturdy paper, and one made from dyed carrier rods. The second looks a bit messy, but chopped up and felted in, it looked good. Can't find the photo of the felted piece. The 3rd is dyed tussah silk fibres. www.flickr.com/photos/koffipot/sets/72157649354162017/

Cool silk paper Judith! I love the texture the carrier rods give it.
