Ruth asked in the blog if we'd had a go at shibori, and if we had, to post photos. I used to do a lot in the late 60's to jazz up my clothing but my only recent bit (2010 still seems recent to me) was helping my grand-daughter (she was then 7) to dye her plain white t-shirt. We used the Kanoko Shirbori technique (aka tie-dyeing) and just one colour. (Click on the image to enlarge.)

This one in nuno felt quite heavy. I sewed it across the wool part.
This one is felt and was sewn up in many different directions.
This is a light weight nuno scarf that was pole wrapped.

That's really cool, Lyn!
I should have scrolled down a bit before looking at your first photo, Ann, it took me a while to work out what I was seeing! Great results!

Lyn - (2010 was recent wasn't it?) the t-shirt is wonderful. I especially like the left half where the white lines almost look like barbed wire. Did you use rubber bands or string to tie it?
Ann - your pieces are beautiful. I bet the top photo is stunning in person. I really like the red against the black.

I really like the red against the black too Ann!
Ruth - the millenium still seems recent to me. We used various thicknesses of string and we were very surprised that it turned out so well.

Sorry, I only see a couple of scary animals in Lyn's wonderful tie-dyed T-shirt…
Lovely scarves, Ann, especially the pole-wrapped nuno scarf!

I forgot to say I liked the t-shirt Lyn. Ruth your scarves look lovely. I sold the black and read. not sure what happened to the blue one it was pretty sturdy. The poll wrapped one I still have and at the moment is twisted into a head band.
