I do not know quite how to explain this but you have to click on the picture of color you want and then the picture will come up with what is available and order from that page.
If you try putting the ounces in under the picture on the main page it comes back as unavailable.

I bought a couple from Opulent. I'll have to check out the shipping from WOW. There weren't many color choices left from opulent when I ordered. Not that I need them now that I have the carder, but it's quick and sometimes the colors aren't something you can get.

when Zed did a comparison on prices last year. she compared lots of places and their shipping and WOW has everyone beat even with shipping to the states. what I haven't figured out yet is why WOW batts are more then WOW combed top.

I wondered that too. Maybe they are really good batts and expect they will be used 'as is' so half your work is already done, no lay out, time saving etc? Good for bags, hats, slippers etc.

I have a questions about working with batts... I had 4 special batts made last Summer for my Ocean Princess wet felted class. When I was on my last layer and I started laying out my special batt as a whole batt over the front section of the purse and had already wetted it down when the teacher came along and pull it off and said I HAD to pull off bits of the batt and lay it down that way. I was "Shock" What she did and how she spoke to me... Down in Kentucky in May the teacher said it was just fine to use batt layed out as one piece because the fibers are already mixed up. I thought the beautiful batts I had was ruined by tearing out bits and laying it down.. Sooooooo does anyone know what the proper technique is for using art batts in wet felting? Or is there no right or wrong way to use them??? I look forward to all your opinions. Thanks

Batts are designed to be used "as is". They're carded and ready to use. Your teacher was very wrong to ruin your materials, not to mention her rudeness! Do your own thing, it's your creation.

I work with butts a lot and from different suppliers you can get butts of different quality. I have some with all fibres still going in the same directions, very much like tops. When I work with these butts I separate very thin layers and lay them in opposite directions, but still as one piece. But I do know some felters who work with butts in the way you've described - pulling and laying the bits. The reason is unknown... In general, yes, you supposed to use butts as a whole piece, which is very convenient, of course. As for a teacher, even if she wanted you to lay wool differently she should discuss it with you first and explain why she use the butt that way... Sorry to hear it!

I agree with Judith - use your batts for laying out. It saves time and works just fine. Sometimes I peel them apart in layers and use them that way and sometimes just as they come. You do need to be careful to make sure that everything is even because sometimes batts can be uneven. You may need to add more wool in thin spots.

I think the whole purpose using batts is using them as is. That said if you are laying out a specific design you may want to break off colors or parts. I don't think there are "rules" but your instructor was out of line telling you to pull it apart when you were happy using the whole thing. I usually use them as is. I also agree with Felicity sometimes batts have to be separated and used in another direction. Use your best judgement.
There are big difference in commercial and hand made batts. Commercial tend to have more chunks but make great bases.
