The forum does have a private messaging system. You will see "Messages" in the grey bar, just under the forum banner. There will be a little number above the "Profile" button in the same grey bar if you have any messages. You can either click directly on "Messages" or click on "Profile" to access the information.
Any messages will be listed in your in box. On the top line of the in box, you will see where to click to create a new message, to look at your in box, out box, or archives. If you would like an e-mail notification when you get a new pm, click on "Profile" and change the settings under Notifications. There is also an option to block all private messages.
The messaging system is very similar to the posting system when writing a message. Just click on new message and write your message. You can also jump straight to a personal message of a specific member from one of his/her posts. On each top right corner of a post is a gear. Click on the gear for a drop down menu, go to Member and another option will pop up to send a message. Click on that option.
A pm is the best option if you need to send another member certain personal information like a mailing address. You can send me a pm any time if you have questions or any issues arise. I'll return the message as soon as I can.
Thanks!

Hi Ruth! It seems that "Notifications" of private messages is not working for me. I missed a message sent to me months ago while I was away and checked Notifications settings after that. And it's happened today again! I had a message and no e-mail notification. Sorry to bother you!

Are you talking about the notifications section at the top or the notification section in the edit profile section?

Yes, I suppose so! Where "Notify you by..." is I've got ticks in the most of boxes but I do not get notification e-mail if there is a personal message for me.

Not sure then. Maybe Ruth has an idea. Is your email correct on your profile? I know that's a simple one but if there is a typo that would be an easy fix.

E-mail is correct, I am afraid. I copied it from profile (by Copy) and sent a message to it, it worked.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. It is at the bottom of the list under notifications when editing your profile. The second to the last one is "when you receive a personal message". Do you have that checked in the e-mail column? If you do, I would un-check and then save. Then go back and check it and save. See if that works. If you want me to send you a pm to see if it works, let me know.

Thanks Ruth, I checked it a few times! Now I did as you advised - "un-check and then save. Then go back and check it and save". Could you send me a test message please? I hope it was just a glitch.

I'm glad you got it fixed. Restart is always a good option. I'm glad Ruth thought of it.
