I had to do a clothing repair job and I used matt black thread on matt black fabric. I have good daylight but not so good eyes and I had trouble seeing the stitches on the fabric. I bought a magnifier at a charity shop a while back (thinking that it might come in handy ... and it was only £4) and it's wonderful. I set it up over my machine and the repair job was much easier! This is the magnifier: (link to photo from commercial site) And this is how I set it up over my machine:

That looks cool, I'll have to keep an eye out for something like that!

Forgot to say that the base is weighted so it stays put.

looks cool Lyn I will have to keep an eye out as well. I was doing some black on black the other day and think in how hard it was to see.

It looks like a very handy tool. And 4E is a very good deal.

Great idea Lyn! I have a big one that attaches to the table, but I like yours better. Ok another thing to add to the list for thrift shopping. ;-)

Great idea, Lyn. I am sure the day is near when I will also need a magnifier for sewing. Holding off for now, though!

This is what I need badly! If there is no proper natural light I cannot see anything, especially if I am working on something black. I'll need to have a look around.

Great idea Lyn. I need one of those all the time when I'm doing free motion stitching. It would save my back and neck for sure!
