Great colours. I like the second one best, less structured. Are they both the same fiber?

Thanks everyone Ann, they're both silk, but not the same type. Ruth, the top photo on here is mulberry silk tops and the second one is silk threads that came off the sari silk ribbon. Thanks, Lyn I haven't decided what to do with them yet, Kaz, maybe frame them or use them on a bag/book/put them in the box with everything else I make

So, after reading Zed's post, I decided to un-twine my sari yarn to get sari threads. (okay, I have a miserable cold and didn't really feel much like doing anything) After two hours and a couple of feet of yarn, this is what I got. Now, I have to try using it! I purchased this yarn at the Bead and Button show probably 7 years ago and never used it, except for once when I tried incorporating it in my felt with not very satisfying results. The yarn itself, as you can see, is not very "outstanding" in color, so it disappeared in my felting. When I took it apart, the thread colors are much more dramatic! shreaddedyarn by pamd8, on Flickr

Oh wow, the fibre looks great I've never used my sari yarn as yarn, I usually cut a section off and lossen it up a bit. It's far shinier than the yarn makes it look. Do you know what you're going to use it for yet?

Zed, you are just the best! Yes, I am doing a small purse similar to the last one, but in black and with some of the sari silk fibers sprinkled on it. I'm sure it's not going to be as beautiful as yours, but it gives me the opportunity to try, and I get a new purse! I'm taking a break from the rolling right now. At least the constant movement makes my nose less stopped up! I'll hopefully have a pic to post tomorrow.
Zed, if you mind me copying you (which I actually didn't mean to do as I wanted to make it in blue, but didn't have enough wool) I will cut it up and throw it away. I really just like to try different things and didn't even think about copying you until I came back to this thread.
