Last year or was it two years ago I tried out weaving with beads and made a few long necklace scarves, I know it's not fibre but thread was involved. I'm now thinking of doing one as a pdf, and maybe selling the pdf with the beads needed, it's so complicated does anyone know anything about doing this?

Thread is a fiber and the category is beading so this is exactly what the part of the forum is for. We know that people have hobbies, skills and interests that are not felting. I am clueless to answer your question but I am sure Zed and Lyn will have some ideas to share.

Do you have a website to sell the PDF off of? Making a PDF is hard work as Lyn and Zed will attest. What questions do you have specifically, that might make it easier to answer.

Hello Carole As you are selling a kit, i.e. printed instructions along with the necessary beads, you don't need to produce a pdf.
Type up your instructions in a programme such as Microsoft 'Word' (or whatever you prefer to use), then print it off to be sent with the beads. Tips: As it will be your pattern and instructions, add a copyright paragraph. For example: Copyright © 2014 (enter your name) This tutorial must not be copied, reproduced or resold without the express permission of (enter your name). Please respect my business, this documentation took time and experience to prepare. Thank you.
When you've written your tutorial, ask a non-beading friend if she thinks she could make the necklace scarf using only your instructions. If she has to ask for clarification of a point, then re-write the point.
If you are going to use photos to illustrate a point, get as up-close as you can so that it's clear.

Thank you Lyn, that is so helpful especially for kits, Ruth no website just a blog, but a website is also in the pot and being stirred, I was thinking a pdf for ease of downloading - pictures, instructions and maybe diagrams - it's all very ethereal just now, I have pages of notes and a half made necklace.

Hello Carole - you can sell from your blog (we do!). If you type up your instructions with photos and diagrams in say, 'Word', you can then convert it to a pdf. If you have access to Adobe Acrobat Professional then use it. There's a free 30 day trial here: free 30 day trialor try one of the free ones - 'google' free pdf converter and you'll get quite a few to choose from. I've seen review sites that give opinions on these so might be worth having a look.

I sell mine from my blog too, I use the same host as Lyn. You could also upload the PDF to your blog or website and password protect the page, and just send out those details with the kits. I don't want to put you off, but it really will take about 3 times as long as you think it will. I'd suggest saving copies of all your photos too, use duplicates for editing. Also, to keep file size down, work out the dimensions of the photo you want to use and then shrink the photo to that size, there's no point using a 3mb 25 x 35 cm photo if it's going to only be 6 x 8cm on the page. Check that they are big enough for zooming in 200% without losing quality though. Oh, and 'Save as' your word document every time you do a new draft just in case you change your mind. You can delete all the unneeded photos and documents after. The beading looks really interesting

Carole, these are most beautiful necklaces! You must have a lot of patience and thin fingers to do all this.

I run 2 blogs. One for my own work and one for our senior's art guild. I use Blogger and have never been able to make a pdf work as an upload. I have to do a copy paste from the pdf to the Blogger page. It will not let me upload any documents, only jpg pictures. But I do not sell online.I wanted to have a print feature from the page, but it would not let me do that either. I have to print the page from my P.C. Maybe I just don't know how to do it. I would like to attach entry forms that people can print off, but Blogger just doesn't let me.

Wordpress lets you do forms as uploads. I don't use Blogger anymore.
