Lyn what a great idea, I'm off rummaging through secondhand shops tomorrow, I have started a wall hanging with tree and guitar, but I have keep hiding it as John comes in for a chat, he thinks I've been needle felting a pod for two days now!!!!!

Carole, I agree with Lyn about the strap. Prefelt is great for decoration and as in between or under layers to make it quick, but for the shoulder strap I'd use something more durable.

I made a very even strong strap by using a resist. I made a long skinny resist that was about 2-3" wide (you might want to do wider) and longer than the strap needed to be to allow shrinkage. Then I covered the resist with four layers of wool on each side. You can leave the ends open or cut them open before fulling. For mine, I left fluffy ends so that it could be attached to the bag at a later point. Then I felted, removed the resist and fulled. It doesn't matter if the two sides felt together during fulling but it gives you a very straight strap. You could add Lyn's woolen fabric idea in between layers for even more strength.

Lyn this would be a great way to make a really sturdy strap. You could needle felt a design on it after. I would do some wet felting of the design when finished to make it wear better.

I've been sneakily felting and so far I have up with this, not like the picture I shared but close enough and a bit quirky I think, I hope he likes it. I feel I still have to do more to it, but I am at that stuck stage!!!!

he's a wordsmith, has two audio books out in the states and a third about to come out, he also writes songs and of course plays guitar, I trying to think of acoustic guitar words to embroider in a flowing sort of way, but I'm stuck again!!!!

It's gorgeous Carole. Well thought out. Can you use some of his lyrics? Perhaps something that defines him or his work?

Great job Carole - I was thinking along the same lines as Marilyn - using his own lyrics would be cool.

Thank you, I've embroidered 'Paperback Writer' on it - not too many words, easier to embroider, but if I had read these responses earlier I could have made it even more personal - I've still got a week!!!

Carole, well done! If you want to add more words perhaps you can embroider them on the strap.

I haven't actually made a strap, I was thinking about it, maybe that'll be a Christmas present. The ideas for a strap are great, who knows I may get my mojo working again before next weekend :-)

I like the guitar and I'm looking forward to seeing the words on it.
