Thank you Marilyn. My daughter and I are both avid readers and we presume most other people are too, so your valid point about the preference by some for youtube learning is one we should think very carefully about. Your other comment about 'own pace of learning' is useful too.
My memory's not too hot anymore either, so having something laid out in a step-by-step format suits me just fine!

That is very smart, Ruth! You were my first thought as a loyal customer, Marilyn I think with tutorials, I hope I'm providing access to info for someone like me, someone who can't get out to workshops or doesn't have access to them or couldn't afford them/the travel etc, and don't have money to waste, so they don't require any fancy gadgets or equipment, it is mostly available from home or the poundshop, re-used/recycled things. And the info is transferable to/useable for other things. And I weigh and measure everything in cups for the Americans (just kidding!)

All very smart strategies Zed. But I think you have a much bigger market. The people you want to target are the ones like me who want clear instructions and to work at their pace. I think using household and inexpensive items are very useful for people who are also starting to felt and want to try it without spending a lot on equipment. :-)

As someone who has recently retired, I believe there would be a tutorials market for retirees who may not physically be able to travel or may not be able to afford it. Also, consider "stay-at-home" moms who are somewhat trapped at home with their young ones for a number of years. With most folks having access to computers now (either owning or using the local library), the tutorial is an open market.

what a great idea Ruth, I believe the hardest part of selling is getting people to see your stuff :-)

I have a page of tutorials on my blog illustrating some of the mixed media techniques that teachers can use in the classroom. I try to choose those that are doable for young people. I teach mixed media workshops for art teachers and they tell me this has been a wonderful resource for them. I also have a page called Projects of Interest where I go step by step on my personal projects and I have many beginners who contact me and thank me for giving them some basics. There is a whole world of people who read blogs. I don't sell on my blog, but I do get teaching opportunities and exhibits from it. I put a tutorial on there a long time ago on how to mount your fiber art to display it in galleries. I get traffic to that page from all over the world.
