Ok "funny" yarn it is. Did you use it for the flowers? Is it wool? Good for you selling your work! :-)

Congratulations! It's a good feeling when someone wants to buy your work.

Here is my entry, and I chose Jackson Pollock's 1946 painting "Eyes in the Heat," as my inspiration. I used white wool (not sure what kind) for the bottom three layers, then added merino wool colors. The black is an unknown sheep fiber that had not been carded, and I added that to try and get texture. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/8hzx0sccltsjih5qj_qq.jpg

P.S. I finished last night and set out my art on the granite kitchen counter to dry overnight. In the morning, when I went downstairs to make coffee, there was one of my two cats sitting on Pollock! So guess what I am working on today? Yes, a cat mat!

I've become quite familiar with Jackson Pollock's work since Ruth announced the challenge, and I recognised your felt as 'the eyes' before I read your description so that says quite a lot doesn't it?
I think it looks grand as it is, but if you want to needle felt the eyes then I think that could be quite interesting.

Halay - I love the pieces you showed on page 2!

I like it the way it is. You don't have to do a piece that is exactly like your inspiration, just your take on JP's work. Cats love wool.

Luvswool, I think it turned out great. Very Pollack like. Obviously, you got the cats approval! As far as the eyes, I don't think you need them, the work stands on its own.

Thanks all! No eyes then on my Pollack piece. BTW, what do you all do with your "challenge" wall hangings? Ruth, normally my cats are content to bat around their needle-felted catnip balls that I make, or lay on one of my wool blankets, but now I realize their needs are not being met!

I usually try to make something specific for a challenge piece. It depends though. But you could use it as a wall hanging or you could make book covers, a bag etc by cutting it up and sewing it back together.
My sister loved the felt cat cave that I made for him.

I have five of my pieces currently displayed indoors and my mum has one too - when I tire of something it lives in a box and eventually gets re-purposed.

I had to spend some time getting my computer in working order again. Had to uninstall and reinstall programs that were out of date. Also have a few problems with Blogger pages. Working on my Bugs and Bees and Pampas Grass. And hey, I actually cleaned my house this week. So I need to think up something for the challenge. Probably a monoprint.

Luvswool, excellent! Very Pollock like. I'm still gathering ideas as well as materials for this challenge. I've been very productive these days. having been challenged by the wool I bought for slippers (not satisfied with the way it felted), I eventually managed to tame this wool and made a pair of slippers. Also, I wanted to try making a slit with a resist (thanks for all your tips, girls!) and made this cuff . Yesterday I made a pair of gloves for my friend . Two more projects (shawls)are underway and I'll post the photo tomorrow.
