I taught my last class to the quilters today on fused applique designing. This big heavy load just lifted and I feel free as a bird. I also am on schedule completing my Color Class workbook for next May. I broke it down into chapters; one to be completed every month until January. I know you have all been there, and know what I mean.

I certainly do! I'm 'on holiday' now that my polymer book is finished, it's weird having spare time to do nothing at all, it's the first time this year I haven't had something I 'must do' and now it's starting to cool, I might even enjoy it

Oh Judy, yes, completely understand! And you must feel good being on schedule with your colour class workbook.
Starting to cool Zed? Lucky you, but not in this city unfortunately - the coolest room in my house is still 26C right now (mid-morning) and the sun is blazing down on my parched garden. Anyway Zed, I hope you enjoy your break. You deserve it - a lot of work went into that book.

It's below 19C right now, but the humidity is 75%, so I've had the fan on a bit while I'm upstairs. Last night was the first time it went below 20 for at least 3 days. I don't know what it was inside, apart from insanely hot and uncomfortable. It's cloudy and breezey. Sorry you've still got the heat and sun, Lyn World clock is predicting a lot of rain for me next week and cooler for everyone here.

Congrats on being free Judy. It feels nice I'm sure. It's a bit hot here too but always cools down at night.

I'm not a quilter, why was the class a "heavy load"?

Oh, I know. You all think I died and went to heaven. Well, not really. I am getting all the projects finished that I had put on hold while I was putting together my color workshop chapter one. I also am making something out of the class samples that I taught the quilters on photo interpretations. I am not really a quilter either. I call myself a mixed media fiber artists, but some of the things I do look like a painting made from fabric.
The hardest part is that quilters are perfectionists. Uptight, rigid and not always creative. They follow patterns where all the decisions are made ahead of time for them. So, my approach is more like a painter who uses fabric as paints. They admire this, for the most part. Some are scoffers who say this should not be part of quilting. But they continue to ask me to teach classes. So that is a little explanation of why it is difficult for me to translate artspeak into quiltspeak and be understood.
I am also the chairman of our annual big exhibit with my painters guild. I did not ask for this job either, I got trapped. So that is takeing place on August 16th and will be a great big burden off my back. All I really want to do is sit in my studio and turn off the outside world. But....that is not good for me.

So I hit the lollapaloosa of weeks next week. On Tuesday, I get a cracked jaw tooth pulled. Ouch!!! Wednesday, I take a drawing class (if I am not comatose from pain pills) in the morning and attend a meeting for our Senior's Art guild in the afternoon, on Friday, I am chairman for the hanging or our big art show with about 40 exhibits. On Saturday, I go to the meeting of my professional artists guild. I am working on the next chapter in my color class workbook and am finishing my exhibit for our fall challenge.
I also got trapped, I mean I volunteered to do a mural on a 15 ft wall for a Catholic charity home. So, I need to do some self analysis and figure out how this happens to me.
I don't know how the weather is everywhere else, but we have had nothing but rain and flooding is getting to be a very big problem. A 4 year old child was swept away in a flash flood and a whole town nearby is under water.

The learning to say no is hard. But you'll get to the point where it is the only option. Take it easy, sounds like you are needing a little rest and relaxation.
Sorry to hear about the flooding. We need rain to avoid wild fires this time of year.

I'd need 3 days recovery if I had to do one of your days, Judy We had a heatwave for 3 weeks, it turned everything brown, started fires, baked the ground hard, and of course, then came the rains and flash flooding Luckily we never get it bad here, the road was a stream for a while but it never goes above the kerbs.
